2022-2023 TUITION MANAGEMENT

As announced in the last Summer Update, we are transitioning from Blackbaud Tuition Management to SchoolAdmin for tuition and fee payments. This week parents/guardians will receive an email with the subject line "Accessing Your JPII Tuition Management Parent Portal" from info+jp2highschool@schooladminonline.com - this email contains instructions to set up your tuition management account and pay the $250 technology fee and $45 tuition management fee. It is very important that this is done by July 10; payment plans begin in July and if this is not done by July 10 then double payments could occur in August. Questions? The academic campus is closed now through July 8 for the Greenville Police Department to conduct active shooter response training. Please do not visit the academic campus during this time. This does not affect the athletic campus and summer workouts.

DRIVER'S ED

Students who will be 14-and-a-half as of Monday, August 8th and need to take driver's ed are eligible to participate in the class that will be held at the school the week of August 8-12 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. each day. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not get credit and do not receive a refund. Cost is $60 payable to JPII. 22-23 BELL SCHEDULES

With the transition from 8 classes to 7 for the 2022-2023 school year, we have updated the bell schedules. Highlights of the changes:

school will still begin at 8:00 a.m. but the final bell will now ring at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesdays will be Mass and Advisory day with 30 minute classes
lunch is now 30 minutes
5 minutes between classes

JUMP INTO JPII!

Jump into JPII is our new student orientation led by JPII Crew leaders who will present sessions to help all incoming freshmen and transfer students transition to JPII. Jump into JPII will be held Tuesday, August 16 from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and all incoming freshmen and transfer students should plan to attend.

DRESS CODE

The two dress code types for next year are as follows:

Daily: Typically worn Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (unless otherwise specified),
students are to wear:
- tops: a gray, navy blue, light blue, white, or light yellow polo or a JPII spirit wear shirt; JPII outerwear if desired
- bottoms: modest navy blue or khaki Bermuda-length (at least 7” inseam) shorts or skirt (ladies only, no higher than 3 inches above the knee) or slacks
- shoes: closed-toe shoes, sandals, sneakers, or boots
Dress for Success: Typically worn on Wednesdays for Mass, students are to wear clothing of their choosing so long as they meet the guidelines found on the page linked below.

SUMMER BOWLING OUTING

Each summer we like to host a bowling outing to give students an opportunity to get together and as a way for new students to meet one another as well as our returning students. This year's outing is Thursday, July 14 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at AMF on Red Banks Road.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

We are partnering with Global Horizons USA to provide international students an opportunity to join the Saints family for the 2022-2023 academic year. Thank you to the two families who have committed to hosting a student for the upcoming school year! We'd love to have two or three more!

Hosting an international student is not only a great way to expand your knowledge of another culture but provides a wonderful opportunity for them to experience yours. Along the way, they will make new friends and improve their use of the English language. Currently, we have the following students from Germany and Italy who need a host family.

Diego Puccio from Italy will be in 11th grade. He is a basketball player who is a fan of Lamelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets. His parents describe him as neat and cooperative and shared that he often cooks typical Italian dishes!

Victor Racu from Germany will be in 11th grade. When we interviewed him it was very clear that family is big to him and he desires to have a host family that he can really connect with. Basketball is his passion but he has also played piano since he was 11.

Felix Deubel from Germany will be in 11th grade. He is looking for a host family who will help him gain new impressions and experiences. "I watch a lot of American and English films and videos because I like the culture and identify with it. I want to experience the culture, be a part of it, and since I have no detailed plan for my future I thought spending a year abroad is a very good idea."

Pia Ziegert from Germany will be in 11th grade. She enjoys performing arts, is a top volleyball player, and enjoys other sports.

A host family is responsible for providing a loving environment and transportation to school. The students will cover all their expenses, including school tuition, health insurance, phone plan, etc, while in the USA.

Incoming freshmen who are interested in running for SGA as well as rising 10th-12th grade students who are interested in serving as members-at-large are asked to complete the form linked below to share your interest with Mrs. Lyles.

SGA INTEREST FORM

Dr. Parker will be on campus throughout the summer to assist rising seniors who are planning and preparing for college applications. In August, there will be work sessions at the school for students who would like assistance with their applications. Dr. Parker will be sending links via e-mail to schedule appointments with her so be sure to check your e-mail this summer!

GRADE LEADER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FAMILY PACK

For families who are new to JPII, the Family Pack is what other schools might refer to as a PTA or HSA. Examples of Family Pack involvement include planning and organizing opportunities for families to come together as a school community, teacher appreciation, and activities that impact the student experience. If you are interested in volunteering for the Family Pack, please email the main office at mainoffice@jp2highschool.com.

IMMUNIZATION REMINDER FOR RISING SENIORS

Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, students entering 12th grade are required to have a booster (second) dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine if they have not already received one. Rising seniors please make sure Ms. Blanton has an updated copy of your immunization record that includes this vaccine prior to the first day of school.

SPRING BREAK 2023 TRIP TO SPAIN & PORTUGAL

TRIP INFORMATION

Summer is often a good time to order JPII spirit wear. EB Sports and Ink'd Threads are the official providers of JPII spirit wear.

The EB Sports store closes each Tuesday and re-opens the following day. We recommend ordering on the weekend or Monday since orders are pulled on Tuesday. If you order on Wednesday, your order will not be pulled until the following Wednesday thus adding a week to processing. Orders can take 2-3 weeks to process and complete from the store closing date! Any items that become back-ordered due to challenges with suppliers may take longer than the 3 weeks for delivery.

Orders from EB Sports are delivered to the school; if you order from Ink'd Threads you can choose to either pick up your order or have it delivered to the school.

Students who complete the driving portion of Driver's Ed over the summer and need the N.C. Driving Eligibility Certificate to obtain a permit should email mainoffice@jp2highschool.com to request the certificate.

July 11, 13, and 18 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the gym and July 20 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the PAC. Tryouts will be held on July 21 from 8:00-10:30 a.m. in the gym.

Coach Andy will hold summer workouts on July 20 and 27 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Official practices start on Monday, August 1; practices will be held Mondays-Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

CONCUSSION TESTING

Youngs will offer concussion vital signs testing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at their facility on Arlington Boulevard. Space is limited, please use the button below to sign up. As a reminder, student-athletes must complete concussion testing yearly prior to participating in official practices.

SPORTS PHYSICALS

The NCISAA requires student-athletes to have a physical every 13 months. ECU Sports Medicine & Youngs will offer students the opportunity to get a physical on Tuesday, July 19 from 4-7 p.m (by appointment only) at The Oakwood School. Cost is $20. This is not a requirement; it is an opportunity provided to our families. If you have more than one student getting a physical, please use a separate time slot for each. Payment is made at the time of check-in; cash or credit card only.

WRESTLING CAMP

JPII is hosting the 2022 Eastern North Carolina FCA Wrestling Camp July 20-22. The camp consists of 6 sessions with college and high school clinicians, tough competition, and an awesome FCA inspirational program. This camp is open to any middle and high school aged wrestler! Every camper will also receive a camp T-shirt & FCA Bible, and lunch daily. Clinicians include Tony Ramos, Adam Hall, Carl Perry, and Camp Director Bobby Shriner. Registration is $40 and can be completed online using the button below.
