The Daughters of the American Revolution High School Essay Contest has opened for submission. This year's prompt is “Select a figure from the era of the American Revolution (1773-1783). Discuss how he or she influenced the course of the American Revolution, who he or she was and his/her contribution to the founding of a new nation.” There are new patriots being discovered all the time, so find one that inspires you! Check you NCSEAA MyPortal login for updates and to endorse the funds. Parents must complete this step in order for JPII to receive the fall scholarship; failure to do so will result in an increase in the student's tuition and fees balance. Questions? Juniors: Applications are being accepted now through Sept. 19th at 3:00 p.m. for the Chamber of Commerce Teen Leadership Institute. TLI is a program designed to educate through experience and motivate young leaders to take an active role in their community. Through education, networking, peer interaction, and problem solving, the TLI helps prepare students for constructive and responsible involvement in community affairs. Participants will have the opportunities for substantive interaction with his or her peers, community-based service organizations, institutions of higher education, and professionals from the local community. Participants in the program learn the importance of teamwork and gain a better understanding of what it means to be a leader. Last year, JPII seniors Kelcey Bonner and TJ Gribble were selected to participate. The TLI program is broken down into monthly sessions from October to May focusing on different topics that target various aspects of leadership and the Pitt County community. Qualifications - All Applicants Must: - Attend a Pitt County high school (public, private, homeschool)
- Be a junior
- Demonstrate outstanding qualities as existing or potential leaders and possess the desire to affect change in their community
- Attach a one-page résumé
- Attach one signed letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, employer, etc.
- Complete the Teen Leadership Institute online application in its entirety (by Sept. 19th at 3:00 p.m.) and have verbal approval from Mrs. Stanley to participate.
Timeline - Aug. 22nd - Online Application Process Opens
- Sept. 19th at 3:00 p.m. - Application deadline
- Oct. 10th - Advisory Committee meets to review applications and select participants
- Oct. 13th - Students and school administration are notified via email of their selections

Students travel via motor coach and will spend three nights and two full days in the Walt Disney Park and attend a 2-hour hands-on workshop about the physics of the park and an additional workshop about technology in the park. Meals: Students will receive vouchers for meals at the park Cost: Approximately $1,500 (amount may be slightly higher or lower depending on the number attending) with non-refundable deposit of $250. Cost includes park tickets, transportation, food (at the park), and lodging. The remaining amount will be charged monthly to your Finalsite Enrollment account during the 2025-2026 school year. Complete the commitment form to sign up for a place on the trip! |
