Saint Charles Borromeo was Cardinal Archbishop of Milan. He was a great reformer who aligned the teachings of the Council of Trent. However, he is most well known for his care of the poor and his care for his people during a great plague that struck Milan. This week is National Discover Catholic Schools Week which shines a light on the importance of Catholic schools and promotes Catholic education to those seeking an alternative to their current school choice. This week, consider who you know with students entering or in high school who would benefit from the education your child is currently receiving. Applications for 2021-2022 are already open and we are off to a good start for filling next year's 9th grade class. Thank you to the 6 families who have already sold their Parker's Barbecue tickets! Each family is asked to sell 10 tickets that can be redeemed November 27-December 11 at any of the 3 Parker's locations in Greenville for a small combination pork barbecue and chicken (leg or thigh) plate with slaw, boiled potatoes, green beans, hush puppies, and corn sticks (does not include beverage). Each ticket is $9 and can be purchased online or by using this paper form that can be turned in with payment to the main office.

JPII ANNUAL FUND

Last Sunday, you should have received an email from Mr. Conticchio asking for your support of this year's annual fund. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 and we need everyone's participation to help us grow our mission of educating the whole student: mind, body, and spirit. You can designate your donation for academics, the school's greatest needs, or an area of your choice.

$25 buys art and music supplies for one student
$75 pays for a driver to transport a team to an away game
$50 covers certain expenses related to our annual retreat & days of service
$100 can help purchase supplies used each year by our science labs
$300 pays for an iPad
$500 covers the cost of officials for one football game
$500 also covers the cost of purchasing the rights to a drama performance

ASSEMBLY INTENTIONS

Members of the JPII family (students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and coaches) can submit prayer intentions for assembly. To submit an intention, go to jp2highschool.com/intentions. You can also find a button to the form on the Spiritual Life page of our website.

YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST Yearbook cover design contest entries are due by tomorrow (Monday) at 3:00 p.m. The winner will receive a free yearbook!

Students and parents can help contribute to the yearbook by DMing photos to @yearbook.jp2 on Instagram.

FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION

Chaplain Fr. Magee has initiated First Friday Devotion for our students. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the Chapel throughout the day for students to spend time in prayer during their theology classes.

DONATION DRIVE

From November 9-18, families are encouraged to participate in our school-wide donation drive for Daughters of Worth, a local nonprofit that educates, equips, and empowers girls of all ages to become strong women of influence in their communities.

This is a pod competition. The first pod to reach 100% participation (each in-person student donates a minimum of 5 separate items from the list provided) will win a free jeans day on December 11.

SERVICE HOURS

All students should record their service hours throughout the course of the year. You can record service to the school as well as service hours you do for any outside organizations. Use the button below to access the form to submit any service done from June 2020-May 2021.

FALL PLAY - "TEN AND TWO"

Mark your calendars! The fall play, Ten and Two, will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. The students will perform the play live for a very small in-person audience of parents and the performance will be live-streamed for everyone else!

WREATH FUNDRAISER

Although the school bulk order date has passed, Vermont Center Wreath Company is still receiving online orders for evergreen wreaths, swags, and centerpieces through November 28. Click here for details on how to order.

JEANS DAY FUNDRAISER

Overall SGA is holding a Jeans Day fundraiser on Monday, November 23 to help offset expenses incurred by Senior Class SGA for student body activities. Students who pay $2 can wear jeans (no holes, no rips, NO EXCEPTIONS!) with your uniform shirt on the Monday before Thanksgiving.

To participate, pay the $2 online between now and Friday, November 20.
