This week's Saint is St. Josephine Bahkita who endured the horrors of slavery with bravery before she escaped into freedom through the group of religious sisters she joined. Upon entering an Italian convent she would become well known for her great love and compassion. She is the patron Saint for Sudan and victims of human trafficking. >READ MORE

PICTURES ARE DUE BACK ON TUESDAY

School pictures were sent home last week. If you are purchasing, the payment is due on Tuesday. If you are not ordering, the pictures are due back on Tuesday. A reminder that retakes will be taken on October 27.

TEEN COURT

The Pitt County Teen Court program teaches students how to run a court for trials of their peers. Students serve as jurors, clerks, bailiffs, or attorneys in real court cases.

SAINTS SPORTS

Football officially kicks off this week with a JV game at Cary Christian on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and a home varsity game against Cary Christian on Friday at 7:00 p.m. A reminder that no fans are allowed at games. The home varsity game will be live-streamed on jp2sports.com, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. We do not know if the JV game will be available via live stream.

The cross country meet scheduled for Monday has been moved to Thursday, October 8. Monday's volleyball games against Unity Christian have been canceled.

FALL PLAY

This year's fall play will be held on November 19. Auditions will be held THIS WEDNESDAY, September 23

immediately after school in the PAC.

Please prepare a brief, 30-second monologue for your audition (memorized is encouraged). See Ms. Goodman if you need monologue materials.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division. Mrs. Lyles is looking forward to starting the first JPII Science Olympiad team after coaching for the past 7 years at her previous school. There will be an interest meeting on Monday, October 5 at 3:30 p.m. (this meeting may be virtual). If you are interested, please let Mrs. Lyles know.

CULTURE & SERVICE TRIP TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The service learning trip to the Dominican Republic that was supposed to take place this past summer has been moved to late summer of 2021. It is not too late to sign up! Please contact Ms. Goodman if you would like more details on this fantastic trip or would like to register!

ASSEMBLY INTENTIONS

CONFIRMATION

High school sophomores are invited to begin preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Peter Catholic Church. SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING

If you wish to volunteer at the school and have not completed Safe Environment Training, initial or renewal training webinars will be held on the following dates:

October 21 (English)
October 28 (Spanish)

If your current training expires between now and the end of the year, you are encouraged to participate in one of these webinars.
