Since Friday was a virtual day, the deadline to turn in money for the Attractions Dining and Value Guides is this coming Friday, October 7! Every student is asked to participate in this school-wide fundraiser by selling 4 books that are good now through December 2023.

Need additional books to sell? Students or parents can see Mr. Harvey or contact him at charvey@jp2highschool.com or 252-347-4046.

LUKE 12:7 ART SHOW AT ECU

Last week, students in Ms. Bradsher’s visual arts classes celebrated their first off-campus exhibition. The arts at JPII were well represented with over 90 students, families, and community members in attendance. Congratulations to all student artists who participated and invested many hours of hard work in this gallery event!

The Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, October 15 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Click the button below to order tickets for $15 each. Students who would like to bring a guest who does not attend JPII must turn in an Event Guest Permission Form to the main office by October 12.

Athletic Trainer Julia Digiacomo will offer Concussion Vital Signs Testing on Tuesday, Oct. 11 & Thursday, Oct. 20 immediately after school. Students who intend to participate in basketball, swimming, or wrestling but have not yet completed concussion testing should plan to attend one of these testing times.

Tickets are now available for this year's barbecue fundraiser in partnership with Parker's Barbecue. This year's dinner - at last year's price! Tickets are $10 and are good for a small combination pork barbecue & chicken (leg or thigh) plate with slaw, boiled potatoes, green beans, hush puppies, and cornsticks (no beverage).

Tickets can be purchased online using the link below; they are good at any of the 3 Parker’s locations in Greenville starting October 11 until October 24.

While visiting his brother this weekend at AppState, freshman Ryan Cox and his family stopped by "Pegasus Landing," a sculpture by our very own art teacher Ms. Bradsher. She creates with themes ranging from whimsical to contemplative in her outdoor sculptural pieces. In her most recent series, she is exploring the idea of encouraging the practice of empathy in society.

This will be the last week 10th & 11th grade students can sign up for the Washington D.C. trip April 27-30. If you are interested in going but have not contacted Mr. Hughes, you need to let him know before Friday, Oct. 7.

FCA STARTS THIS WEEK!

Starting this Wednesday, FCA will be held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:15 a.m. in the gym.

SPORTS TEAM PHOTOS

Team photos for all fall sports teams - cheer, cross country, football, boys soccer, girls tennis, and JV and varsity volleyball - will be held Monday after school. Don't forget your uniforms!

Mark your calendars! The JPII Performing Arts Department will present its fall horror documentary on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the PAC. Stay tuned for ticket sales. Children under 12 are not advised to attend the performance due to some prolonged instances of complete darkness and potentially scary elements. Other arrangements will be available for any children who need to attend with adults but not watch the performance.

The Arts Booster Club is hosting a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the JPII Athletic Center. Vendor space is available for $50 per table.

VENDOR APPLICATION

Driver's Ed classes have been scheduled for Nov. 28-Dec. 9 and May 1-12, 2023 for students who will be 14-and-a-half as of the first day of the class. The classes will be held Monday-Friday from 2:45-5:45 p.m. at the school. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not receive credit for the class and will not receive a refund. Cost is $62.

SWIM TEAM INTEREST MEETING

Are you interested in joining the swim team? Swim team Coach Peter Geiger will hold an information session after school on Wednesday, October 12 in room S108 to provide an overview and answer any questions.

BASEBALL OFFSEASON WORKOUTS

Starting this week, the baseball team will be conducting workouts Monday through Thursday. Tuesdays and Thursdays will remain weight room days; Mondays and Wednesdays will focus on fielding and hitting. Workouts will be 3:30-4:30 p.m. each day.

WRESTLING OFF-SEASON WORKOUTS

Off-season workouts for wrestling will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning this Tuesday, October 4 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. The JPII wrestling room is located at 102-B Hungate Drive in Greenville. Official practices will begin on Tuesday, November 1.
