SAINT OF THE WEEK

St. John de Brebuf was a French-born Jesuit missionary who was a member of the North American Martyrs, a group of French Jesuit Missionaries who proclaimed the Gospel throughout eastern Canada and upstate New York. They are the patrons of Canada and the North American College in Rome where seminarians from the United States reside. Monday is his feast day. >READ MORE

VOLLEYBALL WINS CPIC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team for extending the season-long undefeated streak to 11 games and 33 straight sets as they defeated both Wayne Christian in the semifinals and Greenfield in the championship game of the CPIC Tournament hosted by JPII on Saturday. Sophomore Hailey Davenport was named Tournament MVP and Davenport, Mary Grace Flowers, Drea Gauquie, and Calie Phelps were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The following season honors were also announced at the end of the tournament:

Conference Player of the Year: Mary Grace Flowers

All-Conference Players: Cayley Davenport, Hailey Davenport, Mary Grace Flowers, Jamie Galinis, and Calie Phelps

On Tuesday, the Lady Saints will host St. Thomas More Academy (Raleigh) in the first round of the state tournament.

HALLOWEEN CANDYGRAMS

Senior Class SGA is selling Halloween Candygrams that you can purchase and have delivered to your friends on Wednesday, October 28. The sale runs through next Friday, October 23. Candygrams are $3 each or 5 for $10 and can be purchased online or through Venmo (@JohnPaulII-CatholicHS). Proceeds go to help cover prom expenses. Parents can purchase candygrams for students!

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Mrs. Lyles will start holding Science Olympiad meetings on Mondays immediately after school in room 119.

SAINTS SWIMMING

Co-ed swim practice starts the week of November 2. If you are interested in swimming this year, please plan to attend a meeting with Coach Geiger THIS WEDNESDAY 3:15 p.m. in the dining hall. The team welcomes all levels of swimmers who want to compete. Interested swimmers may also contact Coach Geiger at pgeiger@jp2highschool.com.

PEP BAND

We are still in need of a cymbal player for Pep Band! NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! If you can be at rehearsals every Wednesday and want to learn, email Ms. Goodman ASAP!

WE'RE GOING TO THE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT IN BERLIN!

From July 6–17, 2022 we will travel to Switzerland and Germany to better understand how sports and wellness have built bridges within communities and between cultures. JPII students will join educators and students from around the world for a three-day leadership conference in Berlin, Germany where they will further explore the global focus on well-being and our evolving thoughts on how to achieve it. They will hear from world-renowned speakers like Jane Goodall, Al Gore, and Sir Ken Robinson, attend expert-led workshops from organizations such as TED-Ed and UNICEF, and work in small international teams to develop and prototype innovative solutions to a global challenge. The conference will culminate with students pitching their ideas to earn a spot in the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. Following the conference, we'll head to Switzerland to see the sights!
