The 3rd Annual JPII Golf Tournament, sponsored by Eastern Hauling & Waste, is THIS THURSDAY, April 11, at Greenville Country Club. Lunch is provided between 12:00 and 12:30 with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The winning team receives $500! Teams are $500 or $150 for individuals. Sponsorships are also available. RE-ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR ENDED MARCH 31ST! All re-enrollments are now subject to space availability. If you do not plan to re-enroll, please notify the school in writing.

Juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday and report straight to the gym by 8:00 a.m. Juniors will need a calculator; pencils will be provided. No electronics are allowed in the testing room. They can bring a snack and drink for the break but it will have to stay outside the testing room as well. Once testing is over (sometime between 11:30 and 12:00) students are dismissed for the day.

Freshmen Class SGA is sponsoring a car wash THIS SATURDAY, April 13, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. with all proceeds benefitting Michael Morgan's fight against cancer.

OUR BOWLS OVERFLOWETH

Next Friday, April 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m., stop by JPII and pick up one or more of a variety of homemade soups for dinner. Your soup and bowl ticket for this event provides you with a handmade pottery bowl and a 32-ounce container of soup that serves 2 to 4 people. The soups will be frozen for your use anytime. Additional bowls or soups can be purchased. The bowls were made by the Tar River Potters Guild; Margie Agnew, Stacey Swinson, Kathy Lyles, Annette Greer, Virginia Hayslip, Caitlin O'Connel, Laura Neal, and Barbara Karnowski. The pottery students of JPII did all the finish glaze work and have created one-of-a-kind pieces.

Selection of bowls and soups is on a first-come, first-served basis at pickup.

PRE-ORDER BOWLS & SOUPS

The winning bowls for the glazing contest were Matt Cox who won by one vote over Isabella Calix who won by one vote over Adriana Hasselbach. It was a close ace across the board! Mrs. K wishes to thank the faculty and staff for supporting her mudbugs. These bowls will be headed to our fundraiser.

Mark your calendars! The JPII theater department will present The Stinky Cheese Man, and Other Fairly Stupid Tales on Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th at 7pm in the PAC. A link to purchase tickets will be included in next week’s newsletter! You won’t want to miss this night of laughs over some very familiar fairy tales!

Students interested in traveling to Raleigh for the Night of Worship at Reynolds Coliseum on April 26 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., please sign up using the button below. Admission to the conference is FREE and pizza is provided. The JPII bus will leave campus at 4:30 p.m. and return to Greenville after the conference. Email Mrs. Tulis with any questions.

Join Haven at Blue Creek on Saturday, April 20 for the inaugural 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run, Walk, and Ruck on their stunning grounds in Grimesland. The First Step 5k is organized to support Haven at Blue Creek, a Women's Rehabilitation Center committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for women overcoming addiction. Join us for post-race refreshments, entertainment including bouncy houses for children, and a joyful, family-friendly atmosphere.

This year's Junior/Senior Prom is Thursday, April 25 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. at Stokes Family Farm. Tickets are $30 each and are on sale now through April 24th. April 25th is a half day of school; students must attend all of their classes that day if they intend to go to prom.

Pitt Community College is accepting applications for the prestigious SECU Foundation “People Helping People” Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This $5,000 scholarship is payable over four consecutive semesters beginning in Fall 2024. The application is available online; the deadline is April 15, 2024. Questions? DRIVER'S ED

Students who will be 14-and-a-half as of Monday, April 22 and need to take driver's ed are eligible to participate in the class that will be held at the school April 22-May 3 (except those students going on the DC Trip). The class will be held Monday-Friday from 2:45-5:45 p.m. with the exception of April 26 and May 1. There is no class on April 26 and class will be held 12:00 noon-6:00 p.m. on May 1. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not get credit and do not receive a refund. Cost is $60 payable to JPII. Mrs. Lyles is leading a trip to Disney World in January 2025 to learn the physics of Disney parks. See below and learn more at the interest meeting on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m.

When: January 16- 19th 2025

Who:The trip is open to all JPII students (40 max)

What: Students will spend three nights and two days in the Walt Disney Park and attend a 2-hour hands-on workshop about the physics of the park.

Travel: via motor coach

Meals: Cost includes vouchers for meals at the park

Lodging: Walt Disney All-Star Sports Resort (4 students/room)

Cost: $1,500 with non-refundable deposit of $250 due by May 1, 2024. Cost includes park tickets, transportation, food, and lodging.

The remaining $1,250 will be charged monthly to your Finalsite Enrollment account during the 2024-2025 school year.

Concussion baseline testing must be done once a year. Student-athletes who will be returning for the 2024-2025 school year and plan to play a sport are encouraged to go ahead and complete concussion baseline testing on May 7th or 14th from 2:45-3:45 p.m. upstairs in the gym. TAKE YOUR MACBOOK WITH YOU!

Students interested in cheerleading for the 2024-2025 school year are encouraged to participate in summer workouts scheduled for June 4–6 and June 10, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at noon. Tryouts will be held June 12th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. If you're interested in participating in cheer for the 2024–2025 school year, please email Coach Holley.

The Ulster Project of Greenville is looking for families with teens ages 14-16 to host a northern Irish teen for 3 weeks this summer from June 26th to July 18th. Both teens, visiting and hosting, will have a schedule of fun activities, service projects, day trips, a 3-night trip to Washington D.C., attending church services, time of discoveries, and more. Visiting teens can share a bedroom with the host teen. Most days will be dropping off in the morning and picking up in the evening. Help with drop off and pick up is available. The project is free of charge and provides service hours. Families can express interest via email or by calling Silvia Frizzelle at 252-258-5963.

Applications for the Ronald McDonald House Teen Ambassador Program are due May 1. The Teen Ambassador Program is comprised of a select group of high school students chosen based on academic merit and commitment to volunteering. Ambassadors gain a greater understanding of several aspects of a nonprofit organization and shows them the importance of giving back to the community. Teens commit to a service year from September – May and meet at least once a month at RMHC of Eastern NC.

Coach Jeff Lebo’s 15th Annual Summer Basketball Camp in Greenville is set for June 24-27 and July 22-25 for boys and girls ages 5-13.
