OPEN HOUSE IS SATURDAY!

If you know someone who is considering JPII for their student (or should be!), please share with them that we will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. While personal invitations are most effective, below is a link to the Open House Facebook Event announcement for families to share to help us spread the word!

This is a floating event with a short program at the beginning followed by opportunities to visit with teachers in their classrooms and then with our coaches at the gym.

Students who are interested in helping with Open House should see or email Mr. Smith. Working Open House counts toward Service to School Hours.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS OFRENDA

The Multi-Cultural Club invites students and faculty to bring a photos of deceased relatives or friends to add to our ofrenda in the PAC this Wednesday, November 2nd. Pictures will be added in the morning before assembly and will be available for pickup during dismissal.

BRAVO! to all of our students who were a part of the cast for "Trap" this past Thursday and Saturday! Special thanks to Ms. Goodman and Mr. Schutt for their direction and guidance of these very talented students!

Students who are interested in being a member of the JPII Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society can find the criteria information and application linked below. Applications are due Friday, November 18.

NAVAL ACADEMY REP TO VISIT ON NOV. 22

MIDN Noelle Devente will visit the school on Tuesday, November 22 at 8:15 a.m. in the PAC to speak with 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students who are interested in the United States Naval Academy.

SPRING DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES

A representative from Pitt Community College will be visiting on November 7 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for juniors and seniors who are interested in taking dual enrollment courses this spring through Career and College Promise.

The Governor’s School of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students in the nation. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two college campuses: a site to be determined in western NC and Meredith College in Raleigh.

Students interested in Summer 2023 Governor's School should contact Ms. Blanton for details on the application process. Complete application packets are due to Ms. Blanton by Friday, November 18.

OFFICIAL PRACTICES FOR WINTER SPORTS START THIS WEEK

A reminder that all student-athletes who wish to participate in winter sports must have successfully completed concussion testing and completed all necessary paperwork (including a physical) with Athletic Trainer Julia Digiacomo.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Practices start on Tuesday, November 1 and will be held Monday-Friday from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Initial practices will be utilized for tryouts.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tryouts will be held this Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. & Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. See the school calendar for further practice times.

SWIMMING

Practices start on Monday, October 31 and will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-7:00 a.m. at Aquaventure in Winterville.

WRESTLING

Practices start on Tuesday, November 1 and will be held Monday-Friday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at 102-B Hungate Drive.

RETREAT FEES
As shared during the admissions process and on the Tuition and Fees webpage, a $60 fee is reserved each year for retreats; $30 of that fee will be billed to each student's SchoolAdmin account for November.

The Arts Booster Club is hosting a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the JPII Athletic Center. Vendor space is available for $50 per table.

VENDOR APPLICATION

Driver's Ed classes have been scheduled for Nov. 28-Dec. 9 and May 1-12, 2023 for students who will be 14-and-a-half as of the first day of the class. The classes will be held Monday-Friday from 2:45-5:45 p.m. at the school. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not receive credit for the class and will not receive a refund. Cost is $62.

MULCH MADNESS RETURNS THIS SPRING!

We are bringing back our Mulch Madness all-school fundraiser this coming spring. Bags are 2 cubic feet of mulch (each bag covers 10-12 square feet 2 inches deep) in four colors that are $5 each. Orders will be accepted until Friday, March 10 and pickup will be Saturday, March 25. Orders of 25 or more bags can be delivered for few to addresses within 5 miles of the school. Don't need mulch? Consider purchasing bags and donating them to the school.

NCSEAA FAFSA WALKTHROUGH

Completing a FAFSA is an important step in preparing for college. Most students take advantage of financial aid to help pay for college. The FAFSA unlocks access to that aid at the federal, state, and college level for students who qualify. In this online session on Thursday, November 10 from 6:00-7:00 p.m., we will walk you step-by-step through the online form so you know what to expect and can get your questions answered by financial aid professionals in real time. Spanish services will be available.
