As Lent continues, the following activities and events are a part of our school's observance:

Ongoing - School-wide Lenten almsgiving to benefit Fr. Gaston's "Little Angels"

Penance Services in our Area

March 22 at 7:00 p.m. - St. Catherine in Tarboro

March 23 at 7:00 p.m. - St. Therese in Wilson

March 30 at 6:00 p.m. - St. Elizabeth in Farmville

Volunteering at Catholic Charities

Students can earn Christian Service Hours by volunteering at Catholic Charities on the following Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m.: March 25, April 22, and May 13 (recently added)

Friday, March 31 at 10:45 a.m. - Live Shadow Stations of the Cross in the PAC - family members are invited to attend!

FRESHMEN RETREAT

The freshmen retreat is this Wednesday. Freshmen are asked to wear their 2022-2023 school theme shirt in addition to clothes that can get dirty. The current weather forecast is 68 and cloudy so dress appropriately!

We are able to keep tuition and fees below the national average thanks in part to fundraising efforts like the upcoming ones below. Please consider supporting the mulch sale, the golf tournament, and Casino Night by participating and sharing them with your family and friends on social media!

LAST CALL TO ORDER MULCH!

Bags are 2 cubic feet of mulch (each bag covers 10-12 square feet 2 inches deep) in four colors that are $5 each. Tomorrow (Monday, March 20) is the deadline and pickup will be this Saturday, March 25. Orders of 25 or more bags can be delivered to addresses within 5 miles of the school.

ORDER MULCH

The 2nd Annual JPII Golf Tournament, sponsored by Tyler Williams Builders, will be held Thursday, March 30 at Greenville Country Club. Lunch is provided between 12:00 and 12:30 with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.

GOLF INFO

Join us for a night of adults-only fun at the tables on Saturday, May 13 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. in the gym. We will have seven Blackjack tables, two Roulette tables, and a Craps table that will be open from 6:00-9:30 p.m.; then casino chips can be used to purchase raffle tickets for fantastic items from local businesses. Auction items will also be available.

We are beaming with pride for junior Natalie Blaubach who has been selected to attend Governor's School for choral music as a soprano! Here is a clip of her from last year's Broadway Night. CONGRATULATIONS NATALIE!

CHEER SUMMER WORKOUTS

Cheer summer workouts will be held in the gym on June 5-7 and June 15-16 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Those who are interested in trying out for cheer are encouraged to attend to learn tryout material. Please email Mrs. Holley for further information.

There are a limited number of seats remaining on the bus for the Busch Gardens field trip on Friday, May 12 so Mrs. Lyles has opened it up to anyone who would like to participate. The cost is $130 and can be paid all at once or in installments:

$50 deposit due now
2nd payment due March 15 - $50
Final Payment due April 15th -$30

TRIP PAYMENT FORM

Current 10th and 11th grade students interested in taking dual enrollment classes with PCC next school year need to see Ms. Blanton for an application before Friday, March 24. Students must have an unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher to be eligible and the classes will be online next year. PCC will be at JPII Wednesday, May 3 for summer & fall registration.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR THESE STUDENTS FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

A host family is responsible for providing a loving environment and transportation to school. The students will cover all their expenses, including school tuition, health insurance, phone plan, etc, while in the USA.

We are looking for 5-10 families who would be willing to host an international student for the 2023-2024 school year. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, families who receive financial aid can fulfill their service-to-school hours by hosting an international student. If you are interested in hosting an international student, please email Mr. Smith.

The Shelton Challenge is a six-day residential leadership experience to help students expand their knowledge and skills of what it takes to be an effective leader. Hands-on activities focus on:

personal leadership assessment and interpersonal dynamics
the role of values and ethics in leadership
leadership traits and approaches
empowering others
civic and social responsibility
goal setting

JUNIORS & JUNIOR PARENTS: Below are the vaccine requirements for starting 12th grade. In order for a senior to receive their 2023-2024 class schedule, Ms. Blanton needs to have an updated immunization record that reflects these vaccinations.
