Dear JPII family,

I hope this letter finds you well. To begin, thank you to everyone for coming out on a cold Friday night to cheer our football team to victory! We are looking forward to hosting the state championship this Friday night against Cary Christian. Please help us pack the stadium and be a part of this history-making night!

This past week we welcomed an admissions representative from the University of Alabama to speak to our students during lunch. This year we will continue to host college and university representatives in an effort to expose our students to different options for higher education. Our next representative will visit on November 19 from the University of Dayton.

Looking ahead, we will host and honor local veterans on Veterans Day. We are looking forward to learning and listening to their stories and experiences. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the PAC. All are welcome to attend!

Thank you to the Atkinson, Goetz, Marcano, and Winkler families for volunteering their time this week at the school!

In closing, I hope everyone has a beautiful week. The semester seems to be coming to a close very quickly! Please help your student continue to be successful by taking advantage of teacher office hours and tutoring. Also, check in and make sure they are maintaining a healthy balanced schedule of activities, studying, and rest.

Tomorrow, November 8th, the Family Association will host the November "Feed a Starving Teacher" event. If your family has contributed to this fund, your students are invited to participate in a dress-down day and wear camo. As a reminder for all students who participate in dress-down days, you should dress in a respectful and modest manner. If you have not contributed to the "Feed a Starving Teacher" fund, you can still do so.

The winds of change are coming for the Family Association! Stay tuned for more information.

OPEN HOUSE THIS SATURDAY

If you know someone who is considering JPII for their student (or should be!), please share with them that we will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, November 13 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Please help us spread the word on Facebook by clicking the button below and sharing the event.

FOOTBALL TO HOST THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY NIGHT

For the 2nd year in a row, football will host the state championship! Our Saints (9-2) will host the Knights of Cary Christian (8-2) on Friday, November 12 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. All JPII and Cary Christian students as well as children 8 and under are free. For all others, tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the gate. JPII passes cannot be used for this game.

The grass lot near the beach volleyball courts will be utilized for parking for this game. To enter the grass lot, drive through the main lot to the gravel lot where the busses park and then drive between the front of the gym and 14th Street where a parking attendant will guide you to a spot.

The art department is holding a pet portrait sale now through November 18 to raise funds for field trips. The finished artwork is 8x10; paintings are $40 and drawings are $20 (one pet per piece). To submit your order, click the button below.

DRIVER'S ED STARTS AFTER THANKSGIVING

Students who need to take driver's ed and will be 14-and-a-half as of Monday, November 29 are eligible to participate in a class that will be held at the school November 29-December 10 from 3:15-6:15 p.m. each day. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not get credit and do not receive a refund. Cost is $60 payable to JPII. "ASK A JPII PARENT" VOLUNTEER TO SHARE YOUR JPII EXPERIENCE

Prospective parents often ask about family involvement at our school and our "Ask a JPII Parent" program puts them directly in touch with current parents to ask questions, share concerns, or get the inside scoop on being a part of the JPII family. While the time commitment is not significant, the impact is! Most of those who have volunteered are local and parents of boys, so it would be great to add parents who live outside of Greenville/Winterville and more parents of daughters. If you would like to volunteer, please email Doug Smith.
