As we bring the school year to a close, the celebrations to honor the Class of 2022 begin! Baccalaureate Mass will take place in the PAC on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m. and Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the JPII Athletic Center; both events are open to the JPII community.

Our 29 graduates have left their mark on JPII with many accomplishments - some individual and numerous others that were the result of coming together to make this school even better than it was when they arrived. We wish them an abundance of future success wherever God's plan takes them next. Below are the schools they have chosen to attend:

Monday is a Dress Down Day to support Mental Health Awareness. Students must wear GREEN to participate and all other Dress Down Day rules apply.

ACADEMIC AWARDS BREAKFAST

Congratulations to the 108 students (more than half the school) who, through their dedication to their academics this year, have earned participation at the end of the year Academic Breakfast on Wednesday during 1st period. Students who have all As and Bs can attend.

AWARDS CEREMONY

The 2021-2022 Awards Day Ceremony will take place next Wednesday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Parents of students being honored will be notified via email.

Thank you to everyone who brought flowers for Friday's Mass to celebrate the May crowning of Mary.

In the words of Pope Francis, "In this month dedicated to the Virgin Mary, let us learn from her that prayer is the best weapon of Christian life; without persistent prayer, no victory over evil is possible."

Dr. Parker will be on campus throughout the summer to assist rising seniors who are planning and preparing for college applications, and in August, there will be work sessions scheduled where students can come to school and get assistance with their applications. Make sure you are checking your email this summer because you will have links to schedule appointments with her so you can get ahead on your applications.

To celebrate the last day of classes, Performing Arts and Sophomore SGA are co-hosting an Improv & Karaoke Night on Thursday, May 19:

Admission will be a $5 donation to support the cause in Ukraine. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

The last Spirit Night of the school year is THIS WEDNESDAY, May 18 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chipotle on Greenville Boulevard. When you show this digital flyer or mention that you are dining in support of JPII, our school will receive 33% so long as there is an overall total of at least $150 in sales from the JPII community. You can also order online and pick up your order – use code W8YDT2F to indicate you are supporting JPII.

The Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina is accepting applications now through June 1 for their two high school student programs.

PITT COUNTY PREMIER LACROSSE

Registration is open for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th grade boys who are interested in playing lacrosse over the summer with Pitt County Premier. Practices will be held on Sundays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. beginning May 22. Questions? MUSIC LESSONS

Would you like to learn an instrument? Do you have an instrument sitting around your house but haven't picked it up since elementary school? Are you interested in participating in the pep band in the winter, but don't currently play an instrument? Ms. Goodman offers instrumental and voice lessons over the summer at the school, including piano. Contact her for rates and scheduling details. You must provide your own instrument (but Ms. Goodman can help you acquire one if needed!)
