Saturday, March 11 - Fundraising Car Wash for Fr. Gaston's "Little Angels" sponsored by the Multicultural and Spirit Clubs. Pollen season is here and your vehicles will need a bath!

MULCH MADNESS ORDER DEADLINE EXTENDED!

We are bringing back our Mulch Madness all-school fundraiser this coming spring. Bags are 2 cubic feet of mulch (each bag covers 10-12 square feet 2 inches deep) in four colors that are $5 each. The ordering deadline has been extended until Monday, March 20 and pickup will be Saturday, March 25. Orders of 25 or more bags can be delivered for few to addresses within 5 miles of the school. Don't need mulch? Consider purchasing bags and donating them to the school.

Who doesn’t like pie??? March 14th (Pi Day) is right around the corner and all students AND staff are encouraged to participate in our Pi Day competition. Starting Monday, March 6 through Monday, March 13, students and staff have the opportunity to answer a math question each day that will be sent to your email (questions must be answered by 11:59 p.m. each day in order to be counted in the raffle).

Students AND staff who answer the most questions correctly will be entered into our Pi Day raffle. The drawings for food-related items (think pie!!) will take place on Pi Day during assembly.

Faculty: start freshening up your math skills because our students are SMART! Sorry math teachers - no pie for you! Please contact Mrs. Burris, Ms. Gilroy, or Mrs. Mabe if you have any questions.

GET YOUR BRACKETS! SELECTION SUNDAY IS NEXT WEEK!

Bracket Mania is our spring school-wide fundraiser and your picks could be worth $250-$1,000 - but only if you play! Filling out a bracket for the college basketball tournament is an annual American tradition. There’s nothing like picking a winner and whether you pick teams by stats, colors, mascots, or you just don’t like the other team – don't miss your opportunity to win $250-$1,000 while supporting the academic and athletic needs of JPII students! Here’s how it works:

Since brackets are filled out online, anyone anywhere can participate so share this opportunity with family and friends near and far!
Brackets are $20 each – buy 1 or buy more than 1 – you can enter as many times as you’d like.
Reserve your bracket(s) now by paying with a credit card using the form linked below or Venmo @JPIICatholic with the note “Bracket Mania” and your email address.
Shortly after the teams are announced on Sunday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. ET, those who have purchased brackets will receive a link and password to fill out their bracket(s).
All brackets must be completed by 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 16th!
Points are awarded for each winning pick; point values increase as the tournament progresses.
The top 10 point leaders in each of the first 5 rounds will be placed in a raffle drawing to win a cash prize.
After the final game, all individuals with the highest point totals and the winning team selected will be placed in a raffle to win the grand prize.

All money raised will go toward the academic and athletic needs of JPII students!

FRESHMEN RETREAT

The freshman retreat will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at The Refuge in Ayden.

The Greenville United soccer team that will play their home games at JPII has 10-12 players who are looking for host housing May 1-July 30. If you are interested, please contact Charlie Harvey at charvey@jp2highschool.com or 252-347-4046.

SAVE THE DATES!

The 2nd Annual JPII Golf Tournament, sponsored by Tyler Williams Builders, will be held Thursday, March 30 at Greenville Country Club. Lunch is provided between 12:00 and 12:30 with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.

The parents of the Class of 2025 will host a Casino Night on Saturday, May 13 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. in the gym. Save the date and make plans to attend for an evening of fun, food, and games!

Mrs. Holley will hold an interest meeting TOMORROW, Monday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC for students and parents who are interested in helping to plan a Multicultural Fair that will take place on April 26 from 1:15-2:30 p.m. Questions? Email Mrs. Holley.

CHEER SUMMER WORKOUTS

Students interested in trying out for varsity cheerleading for the 2023-2024 school year need to email Mrs. Holley so she can send information about summer workouts.

The deadline has been extended for all physics students and AP science students to register for the Busch Gardens field trip on May 12. The cost is $130 and can be paid all at once or in installments:

$50 deposit due now
2nd payment due March 15 - $50
Final Payment due April 15th -$30

TAR HEEL STATE APPLICATIONS DUE MARCH 15

Juniors interested in Tar Heel Boys and Girls State: applications are now available and due by March 15, 2023. This is a great opportunity for a week-long residential experience in forming and running all levels of city and state government. Please see Ms. Blanton with any questions.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR THESE STUDENTS FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

A host family is responsible for providing a loving environment and transportation to school. The students will cover all their expenses, including school tuition, health insurance, phone plan, etc, while in the USA.

We are looking for 5-10 families who would be willing to host an international student for the 2023-2024 school year. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, families who receive financial aid can fulfill their service-to-school hours by hosting an international student. If you are interested in hosting an international student, please email Mr. Smith.

The Shelton Challenge is a six-day residential leadership experience to help students expand their knowledge and skills of what it takes to be an effective leader. Hands-on activities focus on:

personal leadership assessment and interpersonal dynamics
the role of values and ethics in leadership
leadership traits and approaches
empowering others
civic and social responsibility
goal setting

JUNIORS & JUNIOR PARENTS: Below are the vaccine requirements for starting 12th grade. In order for a senior to receive their 2023-2024 class schedule, Ms. Blanton needs to have an updated immunization record that reflects these vaccinations.
