There will be a state championship game pep rally with the football players, cheerleaders, and pep band on Thursday from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Stokes Family Farm. Anita's Food Truck and SnowBalls Dessert Truck will be there for everyone to purchase dinner and desserts. Hot chocolate will be available and a bonfire for s'mores is also in the works. Joe Joe Hughes will also be there to provide music.

Limited seats are available for students who would like to attend the state championship game in Kinston on Friday but need a ride. Transportation will leave promptly at 4:30 p.m. from the Athletic Campus parking lot and leave Kinston at the end of the game. Students who would like to reserve a seat need to complete the form linked below.

The school is hosting a student tailgate prior to Friday's game at Parrott. Cost is $5 and chili will be served along with fun and games! The location of the tailgate at Parrott will be announced once we confirm with them. Use the button below to register by this Friday at 12:00 noon!

2022-2023 ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN

This year's annual fund campaign will begin on Tuesday, November 29 which is "Giving Tuesday," a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. We hope to hit our goal of $25,000 by December 31 and we encourage our families, relatives, alumni, businesses, and anyone associated with our school to consider JPII for your end-of-year donations. We are hopeful for 100% participation so any amount large or small is welcome. If you'd like to make an Annual Fund donation now, click the button below.

Students who are interested in being a member of the JPII Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society can find the criteria information and application linked below. Applications are due this Friday, November 18.

The Governor’s School of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students in the nation. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two college campuses: a site to be determined in western NC and Meredith College in Raleigh.

Students interested in Summer 2023 Governor's School should contact Ms. Blanton for details on the application process. Complete application packets are due to Ms. Blanton by this Friday, November 18.

CHRISTMAS VARIETY PROGRAM

Mark your calendars! The annual JPII Christmas variety program will take place on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m. This will be a night of performances featuring the JPII choir, theater department, instrumental music classes, and even our faculty will make a return appearance! Admission is free.

National Honors Society invitations have been sent to eligible 10th-12th grade students. Complete applications are due to Ms. Blanton no later than this Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The 10th grade retreat is this Wednesday, November 16 - all sophomores are expected to attend. Wear your theme T-shirts and dress warmly! Lunch and snacks will be provided. You may want to bring a blanket.

NAVAL ACADEMY REP TO VISIT ON NOV. 22

MIDN Noelle Devente will visit the school on Tuesday, November 22 at 8:15 a.m. in the PAC to speak with 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students who are interested in the United States Naval Academy.

The Arts Booster Club is hosting a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the JPII Athletic Center. Vendor space is available for $50 per table.

DRIVER'S ED STARTS AFTER THANKSGIVING

Driver's Ed classes have been scheduled for Nov. 28-Dec. 9 and May 1-12, 2023 for students who will be 14-and-a-half as of the first day of the class. The classes will be held Monday-Friday from 2:45-5:45 p.m. at the school. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not receive credit for the class and will not receive a refund. Cost is $62.

Several students have not yet turned in the money for their Attractions Dining Guides (or the books if they have not sold them). Repeated attempts via email and paper letters have been made to bring this fundraiser to a close. Any books not returned by November 15 will receive a NON-REFUNDABLE charge of $100 or less to your SchoolAdmin account ($25/book).

MULCH MADNESS RETURNS THIS SPRING!

We are bringing back our Mulch Madness all-school fundraiser this coming spring. Bags are 2 cubic feet of mulch (each bag covers 10-12 square feet 2 inches deep) in four colors that are $5 each. Orders will be accepted until Friday, March 10 and pickup will be Saturday, March 25. Orders of 25 or more bags can be delivered for few to addresses within 5 miles of the school. Don't need mulch? Consider purchasing bags and donating them to the school.
