Our hearts are with those suffering in the wake of Hurricane Helene. May God provide comfort, strength, and hope to those affected by the recent devastation. Our school is in the process of coordinating efforts to support the communities in North Carolina affected by the recent storms.

Please stay tuned for ways you can help through our partners at Catholic Charities. For now, please consider supporting Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charlotte. On today’s feast of the Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael - pray for all those in need.

Tickets are still on sale for the iPad raffle fundraiser for the Velleman family. The iPad is a 9th generation 10.2" in space gray (Wi-Fi only). Tickets are 1 for $5 or 10 for $20. To purchase tickets, see Charlie Harvey in Room 105 or Venmo @Katie-Stanley-74 with the note "Benefit for Zac." The drawing will be held October 7th.

This year's Homecoming Dance "An Evening in Athens" will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 7:30-10:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by using the button below. Students who would like to invite guests who are not JPII students will need to submit an Event Guest Permission Form to Mrs. Christopher no later than next Monday, October 7th. Copies of the form are available in the main office.

HOMECOMING TICKETS

Join us for a night of adults-only fun at the tables while supporting the students of JPII! We will have seven Blackjack tables, two Roulette tables, and a Craps table that will be open from 6:00-9:30 p.m.; then casino chips can be used to purchase raffle tickets for fantastic items from local and national businesses. Tickets are $50 for individuals or $75 for couples. Each event ticket includes $100 worth of casino chips, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and one ticket for beer, wine, or Pepsi. Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the event; 1 for $5, 5 for $20, or 40 for $100. Winning tickets will be pulled and announced at 9:30 p.m. Silent auction items will also be available for higher-priced items. Sponsorship opportunities are available for your family or business.

Tickets are now available for this year's Parker's Barbecue dinner plates. Purchase tickets now to redeem at any of the 3 Greenville locations October 11-24, 2024.

Tickets are $11 each and include:

small combination pork barbecue

& chicken (leg or thigh) plate with slaw, boiled potatoes, green beans, hush puppies, & corn sticks.

Our ticket price is less expensive then buying a small plate directly form Parkers. Does not include a beverage. Support local!

Open House for new parents and students who are interested in enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Please help us spread the word by sharing theevent on Facebook. If you know of families who are considering JPII for their son or daughter for next year, please make sure they know about this opportunity and encourage them to attend!

This is a floating event with a short program at the beginning followed by opportunities to visit with teachers in their classrooms and then with our coaches at the gym.

November 8, 2024 is the priority deadline for applications for the 2025-2026 school year.Students who apply by November 10 will receive a decision letter by December 9th.

Friends of Greenville Greenways is looking for volunteers! Help build a new forest trail at Jaycee Park (register here), paint green stenciled "wayfinding" frogs on the South Tar River greenway (sign up here), or join for a drop-in trash clean-up event (no registration needed; check the FROGGS calendar for future events).

The Attractions Dining and Value Guide fundraiser ENDED LAST FRIDAY, September 27th! Students were responsible for the 4 books they were given. The $100 can be turned in to Mr. Harvey in Room 105.

Five of North Carolina's premier merit scholarships are coming together to provide a virtual information session hosted on Zoom this Wednesday, Oct. 2nd from 6:00-7:00 p.m. During this session, program representatives will give an overview of each scholarship, discuss general scholarship search advice, and hold a live Q&A to answer your questions.

The following programs will be represented:

Levine Scholars Program - UNC Charlotte

Park Scholars - NC State University
Cheatham-White Scholarship Program - NC A&T

Brinkley-Lane Scholars - East Carolina University

Cheatham-White Scholarship Program - NC Central University

CFNC is hosting a financial aid night on Thursday, November 14 from 6:00-7:30pm at Pitt Community College in the Goess Student Center Multipurpose Room.

Pitt CC and ECU staff will be on hand to answer questions and the latest updates from the Dept. of Education and general financial aid information will be shared, including:

understanding college expenses
the types of federal and state financial aid
the importance of the FAFSA and how to prepare now to apply (including some of the major changes with last year's launch of the new FAFSA)
local, state and national scholarship sources
NC Residency Determination Service (RDS)
....and more!

Due to the canceled ACT Prep session this past Friday, the following changes have been made: Oct. 4th: ACT Prep Reading session

From time to time we are asked how to order a varsity letter jacket. These are ordered through Jostens - the order form is linked below and can be found on the STORE page on our website.

The baseball team is fundraising for their trip to Atlanta this upcoming season by opening a morning "Coffee House" in the dining hall from 7:30-7:50 a.m. Support the team and purchase a morning pick-me-up!

St. Gabriel is hosting an International Festival on October 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where guests of all nations and cultures can immerse themselves and celebrate the vibrant music, dance, art, and cuisine of cultures from around the world. This is a non-religious event to celebrate the beauty of the people of different cultures of Greenville and surrounding communities. Admission is free. Tickets for food and children’s games ($1 to $3) will be sold at the event.
