This Week at JPII

This is the last newsletter for the 2019-2020 school year. Here are a few dates/times of note for the summer:

  • Summer office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. If you have questions and need to contact the school, continue to call 252-215-1224 or email mainoffice@jp2highschool.com.
  • The school office will be closed June 26 through July 12.
  • The first day of school for returning students is Wednesday, August 19. It is a half day of school.

IT'S GRADUATION WEEK

We will celebrate the Class of 2020 with commencement as originally planned on Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. While we would love to invite the entire JPII community as we always do, we cannot. Graduates and their two guests will be the only people permitted on either campus on graduation day. No exceptions! All others will be not be permitted through the gate at the Athletic Campus and will be asked to leave the Main Campus.

 

We do hope that you'll join us virtually on the live stream! The link for the live stream will be sent out this week.

TOWN HALL

As we wind down the 2019-2020 school year, a lot of plans are being made for the 2020-2021 school year! Mark your calendars for Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and be sure to join us as we discuss updates, changes, and more!

WHY: to discuss a variety of topics to bring the 2019-2020 school year to an end and look forward to the 2020-2021 year

BOAT SHOW & TELL

The most unique items in the March with the Saints Online Auction are the 5 boats handcrafted by the JPII boat building students. On Friday, May 29 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Mr. Joyner will display the boats at the school and take questions from interested bidders. The rain date is Saturday, May 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please share this opportunity with anyone you think might be interested in one of the boats!

If you cannot attend the event and have questions, you can email Mr. Joyner at gjoyner@jp2highschool.com.

Below are the summer reading selections for each grade:

Rising 9th graders - The Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible
Rising 10th graders - Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Rising 11th graders - Frankenstein
Rising 12th graders - Book of your choice with more than 100 pages (must be approved by Mr. Elliott)

iPad, etc. Dropoff/Pickup

This Friday, May 29, staff will be at the back of the school under the portico to collect iPads and sports uniforms and to distribute yearbooks, E.B. Sports orders, and lost and found items. Each class is asked to come at the following times:

  • Freshman: 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Sophomores: 5:00-5:30 p.m.
  • Juniors: 5:30-6:00 p.m.
  • Seniors: 6:00-6:30 p.m.

If you can't make it during your class allotted time please just plan to come at any point between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m.

  • Make sure you have your iPad cover and any chargers you may have borrowed.
  • Sports uniforms should be clean and in a bag with the student's name on it.
  • If you have any gently used uniform items you would like to donate you may bring those at this time as well.
  • Report cards will not be distributed until iPads and sports uniforms are returned and all of the year's fees have been paid.

VIRTUAL TOUR

Since our campus is closed, hosting in-person tours is not possible. This week we unveiled our virtual tour for families who would like to see what we have to offer. If you know a prospective family, please encourage them to visit our Virtual Admissions Center and watch our virtual tour.
