St. Oscar Romero was a priest and bishop in El Salvador who had a deep love for the imprisoned and the poor. As bishop, he spoke the truth constantly which put him at odds with those who disagreed. He was shot and killed while celebrating Mass in 1980. He is the patron saint of El Salvador, Caritas International, and persecuted Christians. READ MORE

RESCHEDULED FAMILY ASSOCIATION MEETING

The re-scheduled Family Association meeting will take place VIRTUALLY this Wednesday, January 20 at 6:00 p.m. A meeting link and agenda will go out early this week.

CONCUSSION TESTING

If you are playing a spring sport but have not yet had your concussion baseline test for this year, please plan to attend the testing session on Wednesday, February 3 immediately after school in room 105.

VIRTUAL DRIVERS ED

Virtual drivers ed classes through Carolina Road Driving will start on Saturday, February 6. Classes are held on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and students must attend every virtual class. The cost is $350; to register, complete the registration form no later than Friday, January 29 and submit payment to the school office by Monday, February 1. Questions? Contact Mrs. Warren.

The make-up date for students who did not take the PSAT in October is January 26.

WINTER SPORTS PHOTOS

Team and individual photos for winter sports have been moved to Tuesday, February 2 in the gym. Please arrive at the gym at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time dressed and ready to have your pictures taken.

Orders can be placed online at strawbridge.net using the code FM352661 when you click on the red "Order Pictures and Yearbooks" button. Order forms are also available in the main office. Payment must be made at the time of pictures or online. If you are getting an individual picture, please be sure to make the photographer aware and have your order form or payment confirmation with you.

SAINTS SWIMMING

On Saturday, the swim team competed in a multi-team meet in Goldsboro. While the results are not yet published, Maggie Geiger qualified to compete at the state championships in the 100 free and Dillon Gregory qualified for the 200 free. This is in addition to the following previous qualifications:

We will post the results from the meet on social media once they are available.

The swimming Saints next meet is Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Aquaventure against Southside Christian.

SERVICE ACADEMY SUMMER PROGRAMS

AIR FORCE ACADEMY

Summer Seminar at the United States Air Force Academy gives students the opportunity to experience life on campus firsthand. Specially designed for high school juniors heading into their senior year, Summer Seminar allows participants to live like a U.S. Air Force Academy cadet for four days. Scholarships for program and travel are available.

The Academy Introduction Mission is a one-week full immersive Coast Guard Academy life summer program for students entering their senior year of high school. Intense, yet rewarding, AIM will help students discover whether the Academy experience is truly what they want from college. Scholarships are available.

The United States Naval Academy plans to host traditional experiences for both Summer Seminar and Summer STEM, providing students with an on-campus experience and a glimpse of life at the Naval Academy. Applications are now open. Need-based scholarships are available for both the program fee and travel.

MILITARY ACADEMY

The Summer Leadership Experience at West Point is a week-long immersion in academic, military and social life for those considering the United States Military Academy. Students will explore the United States Military Academy from all angles, including some military training and athletic activities. Scholarships are available.
