Students interested in participating in recreational and competitive shooting should contact Joe McMillan (alumni parent) at 252-902-9806 or joemcmillanbuilders@gmail.com. Listed below are descriptions of the shooting disciplines that he would like to offer to JPII students.

Service Rifle: This is the gold standard of rifle marksmanship. Students compete on a regional and national level with the finest shooters in the world shooting an AR15 rifle at 200, 300, and 600 yards.  

USPSA: United States Practical Shooting Association is primarily a pistol shooting discipline that involves speed, accuracy, and ability to move and shoot.

Sporting Clays: This is a clay target sport that is done with a shotgun. It involves a course of approx. 15 stations (or shooting points) where the shooter engages varying presentations of clay targets. It has been called golf with a shotgun and there are some similarities.

Archery: There is an active 3-D Archery Coalition in our area which can offer excellent opportunities for the traditional archer or the compound bow shooter to learn and compete.

Pitt County 4-H: A competitive and educational team that will offer opportunities to shoot rifle, shotgun, archery, and learn hunter skills. There are also opportunities to compete on a regional, state, and national level.
