Dear JPII family,

December is here, and as a faculty we are busy preparing your students for the end of the semester. We encourage you to follow up with your students in regard to their classes; specifically their midterm schedule, exam format, and any upcoming assessments and projects that are due this week. Gradebooks will close for the fall semester next Monday, December 13 with midterm exams following December 14-17.

This Monday is our December “Feed a Starving Teacher” day. The theme is ugly Christmas sweater/outfit (dress down guidelines apply). As always, we encourage school spirit as long as outfits are appropriate and modest.

This Wednesday is a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. We will celebrate Mass for The Feast of the Immaculate Conception at 9:00 a.m. in the PAC. All are welcome to attend!

Finally, I would like to thank all of the students and faculty that helped decorate the JPII bus and walked in the Greenville Christmas Parade. We had a nice turnout, and the weather was perfect for a stroll down Evans Street.

PERFORMING ARTS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM IS THIS WEDNESDAY!

JPII's Christmas Program is THIS Wednesday, December 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC. Come celebrate the holiday season with our choir, instrumentalists, our theater department...and perhaps even our faculty...SHHHH! The concert is free to attend.

PLANNING MEETING FOR LA POSADA

Mrs. Garrido will hold another planning meeting for parents who would like to volunteer to help with this year's La Posada this Tuesday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. La Posada celebrates the upcoming birth of Jesus with traditional Hispanic food, singing of Christmas songs in Spanish, and more. The event will take place Friday, December 17 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the dining hall.

ART 4 CHANGE

Upper level art students will be having another "Art 4 Change" Show on Thursday, December 9 from 3rd to 5th periods and lunch. All students and faculty are encouraged to bring spare change to vote for a 1st place winner!

TEN DAYS OF GIVING

As announced on Friday, the FRESHMEN are leading the way in our Ten Days of Giving! Students: please continue to give of your time, talent, and/or treasure through the activities that remain. As a reminder, service hours can be earned by participating!

MIDTERM EXAM SCHEDULE

Midterm exams will be held December 14-17. There are two exam periods each day: 8:10-10:10 and 10:30-12:30. Students will need to arrive by 8:00 a.m. for morning assembly and be picked up at 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday: 1st & 2nd periods

Wednesday: 3rd & 4th periods

Thursday: 5th & 6th periods

Friday: 7th & 8th periods

Students who have a study hall will not need to be on campus during the time reserved for that exam period. Also, teachers who teach electives have the option of substituting a midterm exam for a project, performance, or some other demonstration of skills learned during the fall semester that will be due by December 13 and entered as the midterm grade. If your student has an elective teacher who is utilizing this option, they will not need to be on campus during the exam period for the elective class.

Please ask your student about their exam schedule and arrange transportation accordingly.

JPII CREW FOR 2022-2023

The application for current sophomores and juniors (2022-2023 juniors and seniors) to apply for JPII Crew for the 2022-2023 school year is open now through February 1, 2022.

JPII Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and transfer students and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their JPII experience. As positive role models, JPII Crew leaders are mentors and student leaders who help students new to JPII discover what it takes to be a successful Saint. More information about the role of a JPII Crew leader can be found on the school website.

Selections will be made based on the application as well as how applicants conduct themselves on a day-to-day basis (behavior, academics, leadership potential/qualities, etc.).
