The Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, October 15 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Click the button below to order tickets for $15 each. Students who would like to bring a guest who does not attend JPII must turn in an Event Guest Permission Form to the main office by October 12.

Athletic Trainer Julia Digiacomo will offer Concussion Vital Signs Testing on Tuesday, Oct. 11 & Thursday, Oct. 20 immediately after school. Students who intend to participate in basketball, swimming, or wrestling but have not yet completed concussion testing should plan to attend one of these testing times.

POWDERPUFF GAME

This year's powderpuff football game (where the guys cheer and the ladies play) will be held this Wednesday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend but the students have decided to have a monetary donation competition during the game to benefit victims of Hurricane Ian so spectators are encouraged to come prepared to make a donation in favor of their favorite team.

OPEN HOUSE ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5

If you know someone who is considering JPII for their student (or should be!), please share with them that we will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Below is a link to the Open House Facebook Event announcement - please help us spread the word by sharing this!

This is a floating event with a short program at the beginning followed by opportunities to visit with teachers in their classrooms and then with our coaches at the gym.

Tickets are now available for this year's barbecue fundraiser in partnership with Parker's Barbecue. This year's dinner - at last year's price! Tickets are $10 and are good for a small combination pork barbecue & chicken (leg or thigh) plate with slaw, boiled potatoes, green beans, hush puppies, and cornsticks (no beverage).

Tickets can be purchased online using the link below; they are good at any of the 3 Parker’s locations in Greenville starting October 11 until October 24.

SWIM TEAM INTEREST MEETING

Are you interested in joining the swim team? Swim team Coach Peter Geiger will hold an information session after school this Wednesday, October 12 in room S108 to provide an overview and answer any questions.

Tickets for the fall horror documentary are now on sale! Shows will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the PAC. Children under 12 are not advised to attend the performance due to some prolonged instances of complete darkness and potentially scary elements. Other arrangements will be available for any children who need to attend with adults but not watch the performance.

STUDENTS CHOSEN FOR TEEN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Congratulations to juniors Michelle Saucedo-Trinidad and Allison Smith for being selected by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce for this year's Teen Leadership Institute!

For students who turned in the permission slip for the service opportunity on Saturday, October 15 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, it is at the Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen located at 1746 Union Street in Greenville.

RETREAT FEES
As shared during the admissions process and on the Tuition and Fees webpage, a $60 fee is reserved each year for retreats; $30 of that fee will be billed to each student's SchoolAdmin account for November.

SPRING DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES

A representative from Pitt Community College will be visiting on November 7 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for juniors and seniors who are interested in taking dual enrollment courses this spring through Career and College Promise. More details on signing up for time slots will be sent out in the next week or so.

Students love to stop by the main office for a piece of candy and we are running low! If you are shopping for Halloween candy and would like to donate some to the main office, we'd love to have it! Thanks in advance!

The Arts Booster Club is hosting a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the JPII Athletic Center. Vendor space is available for $50 per table.

VENDOR APPLICATION

Driver's Ed classes have been scheduled for Nov. 28-Dec. 9 and May 1-12, 2023 for students who will be 14-and-a-half as of the first day of the class. The classes will be held Monday-Friday from 2:45-5:45 p.m. at the school. Students cannot miss any of the days or they will not receive credit for the class and will not receive a refund. Cost is $62.

Free College Application Week is October 17-21, 2022. During this week, many NC colleges/universities will be waiving their application fee. In order to receive this waiver, students MUST apply on the CFNC website. They also need to have completed their residency certification (all seniors have received that link from Dr. Parker). Please contact Dr. Parker with any questions.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open. All seniors attending college should complete this form ASAP! In order to do so, you need to obtain a FSA ID first. Even if you do not believe that you will qualify, many schools require submission in order to receive any scholarships. All seniors have received the links to start this process, but if you have any questions, please contact Dr. Parker.
